Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Omebly collects, why, and your choices. It is written for India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the IT Rules, 2021.

1. What we collect

• Account: your Google account email and ID (for sign-in), your name, date of birth, avatar or profile photo, bio, interests and languages.
• Activity: who you follow, rooms you create or join, gifts you send and receive, coin and bean balances and history, reports and blocks you make.
• Messages: private messages, photos and voice notes you send. These are deleted automatically after 24 hours. Room chat is kept only while the room is live.
• Voice and video: voice rooms and calls are streamed live between people and are not recorded by us. During a video call, both phones send one small picture from their own camera every few seconds to an automatic nudity check. The picture is checked in memory and thrown away at once: it is never saved, logged or shown to anyone, including our team. If the check sees nudity, video stops for both people; twice in a day pauses video calls for 24 hours.
• Your city (optional): if you turn on Rooms near me, we keep the city you pick from a list (never your exact location) so hosts in the same city can see each other's rooms. Turning it off removes your city.
• Device and technical: a notification token for your phone, your app version, IP address and basic logs, and crash reports (the error and phone model, never your messages).
• Feedback: anything you send us from Me → Send feedback.

We do not collect your contacts, location or phone number, and we do not show ads.

2. Why we use it

• To run Omebly: sign-in, profiles, rooms, chats, calls, gifts and notifications.
• To keep people safe: age checks, teen protections, reports, blocking, bad-word filtering and moderation.
• When someone reports a group chat, our moderators may read that group's recent messages (up to 7 days before the report) to check it. We don't read group chats otherwise.
• To fix problems and improve the app (crash reports, feedback).
• To follow the law and respond to lawful requests.

By using Omebly you consent to this use. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

3. Who we share it with

• Other users see your public profile (name, photo, bio, Omebly ID, level, gift wall) and what you say in rooms and chats with them. Your date of birth and email are never shown to others.
• Service providers who run parts of Omebly for us: Google Firebase (sign-in, notifications, crash reports) and our server host in Mumbai, India, where our database and voice server run.
• YouTube (Google), when a room owner plays a YouTube video with Watch together: the video plays in YouTube's own embedded player on your phone, so YouTube receives your IP address and device details under Google's Privacy Policy. We keep which video a room played (title and link) for 30 days so our team can act on reports.
• Authorities, when Indian law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. How long we keep it

• Private messages, photos and voice notes: 24 hours.
• Your account data: until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your profile, follows, messages and history.
• Some records (for example, reports, bans and coin history) may be kept longer when needed for safety, fraud prevention or the law.

5. Teens

Omebly is for people aged 16 and over. For 16 and 17 year olds we apply extra protections: adults they don't follow can't message or call them, 18+ rooms are hidden, and they can't buy diamonds. We don't track teens for advertising. A parent or guardian can contact our Grievance Officer about a teen's account.

6. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, nominate someone to act for you, and complain to us. You can change most things yourself in the app (Me → Edit profile, Privacy & safety, Delete account), and download a copy of your data from Privacy & safety → Download my data. For anything else, email help@omebly.com. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

7. Security

All connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Our server is protected by a firewall and key-only access, and admin tools are password protected. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your Google account safe too.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. If the changes are important, we will tell you in the app.
